Try planting BEE PODS from my 2016 GARDENS
What you get:  10 or more seeds from the same pod parent (may be from more than one pod) + instructions
for germinating the seeds in the refrigerator + an organza bag which is perfect for rinsing and keeping the seeds
until they sprout. Plant now and your seeds should sprout in May or June. There is no guarantee your seeds will sprout,
but pods from the 2016 gardens have had a good germination rate by this method this season.

x
These seeds are from BEE PODS - which are iris that have been pollinated naturally, which means that only the pod
parent is known, and the pollen parent is unknown. The picture you see is of the pod parent. All iris seeds will mature into
hybrid iris. The seeds in one pod will not be anymore alike than siblings in a family. They may all be very different; or they
may all be very similar; they may or may not actually look anything like the pod parent. Growing hybrids iris from seeds is a
lot of fun precisely because you really don't know how the 'babies' will turn out. In general, though, the pod parent tends
to pass along genetic characteristics.
---------------------------------------
Here you see seeds that have been germinated by the refrigerator method--which takes about 4 months in the crisper.
Not all of these seeds have germinated. I plant them all at about this stage in their development. Some will germinate
in the soil; some may not. Iris seeds have been known to germinate a year or two or more after they are planted,
but this method is quite successful the first year. The picture to the right shows the potted seedlings come up, which
they do quite quickly in the spring. I plant my seeds into the garden when they are about 6-8" high and the weather has warmed.

The Red Douglas - Historic Iris TB - Mid to Lateseason, 36"
From Schreiners Iris Lover's catalog for 1947: "A magnificent iris. A vibrant red of rich plush-like quality. Rich, rowy wine red solid to the haft. It is not the reddest iris but rather a sterling, gorgeously rich, deep dark red. Critics agree it is one of the finest iris we have."

Note: There is more than one iris in circulation, and there is confusion as to which is the true one.
